30 March 2009Latex @ Catwalks of Toronto Fashion Week
LG Fashion Week in Toronto presented the 2009 fall and winter trends including latex accessories.
A fashion week is a fashion industry event, lasting approximately one week, which allows fashion designers or “houses” to display their latest collections in runway shows and buyers to take a look at the latest trends. Most importantly, it lets the industry know what’s “in” and what’s “out” for the season.
Spring has merely started in the calendar, but Canada’s designers have already laid out their vision of styles for the cooler months to come later this year and into the next. LG Fashion Week in Toronto started March 16 and lasted till March 21. The presented color palette was a veritable feast for the eyes, flush with a wide array of rich hues and flashy metallics for a wide spectrum of looks for day and night, from cutting-edge sportswear to elegant eveningwear.
And there was even something for latex lovers. In the collection of designer Joeffer Caoc the models were wearing latex stockings and gauntlets.
Joeffer Caoc’s career within the fashion industry has been nothing short of remarkable. A protégé of renowned Canadian designer Lida Baday, Joeffer Caoc successfully launched his own label in 1995 and has received outstanding media recognition and support ever since. He has been featured in International and Canadian publications.
On one hand it’s great the haute fashion designers accepted latex as one of the materials to use for their creations. On the other hand they should be encouraged to use it for whole models and not just accessories. Try harder dear designers latex is a great fabrique.
Fashion Week returns in October with spring/summer 2010 collections.
