The flyer for the next year German Fetish Ball states “Bye Bye Berlin Hello Hamburg”, clearly indicating that after six years the event moves to another place.
Year after year we’ve enjoyed great three-dayevents in Berlin’s well established and famous fetish clubs. The 2009 German Fetish Ball event was no exception. In fact the program offered was so rich, it was physically impossible to attend everything. The May 29th – 31st event was kind of a goodbye to the German capital.
All started on Friday at a Kinky Cocktail meeting, followed either by Sweet Surrender play party or Friday’s Finest Fetish in Insomnia club offering almost as much playing possibilities.
Saturday and Sunday were devoted to the Fair of GFB. This year it occupied free stores of a former small factory – a very stylist place. And many prestigious designers offered their creation there.
The Saturday evening again pleased both the playful ones so as the crowed inclined toward more traditional partying ways. The first ones headed to GFB Play Night at Residenz Avalon. The later ones on the other opted for Revolution in the renowned KitKat Club. There were also some performances there – bondage by SATOMI from Japan, then The UK couple The Baron & Missy’s Misadventures and finally Voividess’ elegant and captivating suspension show. Together with great music I date to say the KitKat party had the best energy of the weekend.
Sunday morning agin offered a choice – the already traditional brunch organized by Crazy Ruber & Friends or the official Fetish Fair Brunch. And night brought The Ball.
The welcome speech was presented by Rene, the main organizer of the event. He also announced this year’s European Fetish Award Winners. Unfortunately as his speech was in German, your humble correspondent caught just the basic meaning. Nevertheless as the good custom orders at such events a set of shows followed and believe me in all the visual feed there was no need for translation. Each label and show was introduced by Tronicat la Miez, a rising German Burlesque Star from Hannover. The shows in row were:
Fashion Shows:
Rubber55
Pony Maedchen
Savage Wear
Blacklickorish Latex
Tatjana Warnecke
Shows:
KumiMonster vs. RopeMarks
After that the party went on in the Matrix club till wee hours.
BIG PARTY NOW MOVING
But let’s get back to the root of the article. As it can be seen from the title, the GFB moves to Hamburg next year. The exact days are May 13-16 2010.
There were several reasons that lead the organizers to this decision. To quote them:
“First of all GFB was colliding with Wave Gothic Treffen in Leipzig, a huge Goth festival and there are companies and guests that feel at home in both scenes. All of them had to decide each year where to go and what to do. This wasn’t good and we would love to offer everyone the chance to attend both events. Unfortunately there is no way to have the huge Matrix along with the Narva and M Lounge on a regular Saturday. So moving the date meant moving the venue too. This is why we decided to move to Germany’s 2nd biggest town. Hamburg is not only a great port town with a huge nightlife, but also birthplace of the German bdsm and fetish scene and the true kink capital. 2 BDSM bars, one Burlesque Bar, a huge BDSM and Fetish party venue, lots of munches, groups, studios, parties… it is the must see place when it is about kink. So the decision for Hamburg was easy, as it offers more kinky stuff then Berlin and the city is as great for tourists. Plus the change now allows us to have one hotel for most of our guests. In Hamburg we already have a hotel that can accommodate 500 fetish and bdsm people next to the venues. And the Himmelfahrt day (Ascension day) on Thursday is a holiday in most European countries, so we can now party from Wednesday night to Sunday afternoon, five days of fetish fun and lots of more guests to come.”
The move to Hamburg is already awaking high expectations and so the organizers are determined to make the great GFB Weekend even better. There is no better way to check if they keep their word then going next year to Hamburg.
